For more than half a century, AMVETS Post 10 has proudly served the veterans, families, and communities of Washington County, Maryland. Located at 770 Frederick Street in Hagerstown, our post stands as a gathering place where military service, patriotism, camaraderie, and community support come together.
AMVETS (American Veterans) is one of the nation's leading veterans service organizations. Founded in 1944 by World War II veterans, AMVETS is dedicated to helping veterans secure the benefits they have earned, advocating for veteran issues, supporting active-duty service members, and strengthening communities across America. Membership is open to honorably discharged veterans as well as those currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, National Guard, and Reserves.
Washington County AMVETS Post 10 has a proud local history. The post was established in 1964 by Charles Edwin Reeder, a World War II Coast Guard veteran and lifelong advocate for veterans. Under his leadership and the dedication of countless members who followed, Post 10 became a respected center for veteran support, community service, memorial programs, and fellowship.
